Show Capitol Reef Bill Now on Nixons' Desk Sen. Frank E. Moss, D-Utah, D-Utah, announced Thursday the House-Senate conference report on the bill to establish estab-lish the 241,671 acre Capitol Reef National Park, passed the Senate Thursday and was sent on to President Richard M. Nixon for his signature. Presidential approval will make Capitol Reef Utah's fifth national park. The bill also authorizes $423,000 to be used for the purchase of additional lands necessary to complete the park, and more than $1 million mil-lion for the development of Capitol Reef park facilities. "The signing of the Capitol Capi-tol Reef bill will set aside some of the most majestic and fragile lands in the United Unit-ed States for future generations genera-tions to view," Sen. Moss said. "I believe the people of Utah will not only find Capitol Reef National Park an aesthetic asset, but will enjoy the benefits from the thousands of tourists who will come to Utah to witness this wonderous work of nature." na-ture." Sen. Moss said that he hopes the Park Service will act qucikly to develop Capitol Capi-tol Reef for the thousands of people who are expected to visit Utah's newest national park. |
