Show 'Why The Chimes Rang' Presented Monday-Tuesday by H. S. Students A gift of two pennies offered of-fered with a child's love became be-came the handsomest offering offer-ing of all in "Why the Chimes Uaiig," a one act choral play presented by Grand County High School drama students this week under the direction of Wendell Bowthorpc. The play, which depicted the beauty of charity at Christmas, was presented Monday and Tuesday evenings, even-ings, Dec. 13 and 14 at the Catholic and Episcopal Churches Chur-ches in Moab. Holger, a Kmall peasant boy, played by Richard Holder, Hold-er, offers the supreme gift of love which surpasses even a king's crown as an offering to the Christ Child. Holgcr's gift "makes the chimes ring." Other main characters in the play by Elizabeth Ap-thorp Ap-thorp McFadden were Uncle Bertel, played by Lonnie Ilass; the Old Woman, played play-ed by Marcia Lea; and Gret-chen, Gret-chen, sister to Holger, played play-ed by Molly Sanchez. Choral music was provided by the Boy's and Girl's Glee Clubs from the High School to create a mood of religious exaltation for the audience. The "Nutcracker," a three act play portraying another Christmas theme, will be presented by the drama class next Tuesday and Wednesday, Wednes-day, Dec. 21 and 22 at Star Hall. |
