The Republican attempt to enforce cloture for consideration of the emergency tariff bill was Jpfeated today in the senate, The vote waa 36 for adoption of cloture to 35 against, far less than -rn necessary two-thirds majority. Republicans voting against the cloture clo-ture rule were Senators Borah, Colt, (ironna. Johnson (California), Keyes, ijo KoUette and Townsend 7. Democrats voting (or the cloture .ule were Senators Ashurst, Hender-I Hender-I Hon. Johnson (South Dakota), Jon&a J (New Mexico), Kendrlck, Myers, ; Kansdell. Bheppard and Smith KJeorgia) 9. !
