According to Louis J. Horowitz, the builder, Woolworth sought to insure for himself for a long time the glory of owning the world's tallest building. When first projected, the Woolworth Tower was designed to rise 1692 feet, but when building opened in 1913 Woolworth revealed Its real height was 792 feet! DYE DIMOOVERY Sir William Henry Perkln, at 18, accidentally discovered the first aniline dye, mauve, In 1856.
