Show TAX INCREASE 1 REPORTJEIIIED FARMINGTON A sUtement waa Issued Tuesday by County Assessor Joseph E. Williams allaying allay-ing fears of some Davis county property owner that taxes will be increased If Improvements are made In landscaping preparatory to Utah's centennial celebration In 1947. The statement was Issued following fol-lowing receipt of a letter from Arvil Stark, chairman of the state landscape committee, who said In discussing' Improvement with Davis county resident he had heard some statements that taxes would be boosted aa a result of the beautificatlon program. In bis letter to Mr. Stark, the assessor said: "We have no disposition dis-position to assess any properties because they are well landscaped, fenced or painted. On the contrary, con-trary, we encourage the beautl-ficatlo beautl-ficatlo of place and in assessing we take Into account only the materials ma-terials used In construction of any kind of improvement, and the value of the real estate, without regard to the shrubbery and tress," The letter, written, by Mr. Williams Wil-liams at the request of the county commission, slates further that the county will support the landscaping land-scaping program to the fullest extent. |
