Show S. L. Commissioners Cagey Over Luncheon Invitation Facetiously, slty eommiasionera Thursday demanded "no strings be tied to the Invitations" of their fellow Commissioner William Murdoch in the role of host at a 12:15 p. m. Hotel Utah luncheon Friday. Commissioners became wary when the genial finance officer of the city demanded a pledge from each potential guest that ha "refrain from tossing sugar bowls or menu cards" in case the luncheon lunch-eon conversation veered "toward any unfinished commission busU ness upon which honest difference differ-ence of opinion may exist. ' The four other members of the commission countered with a demand de-mand upon the finance commissioner commis-sioner that he not attempt to use his position of mine host as a "vehicle of coercion" in future anticipated an-ticipated argumenta to finally settle set-tle the 1938 municipal budget. There was acquiescence among the five men, resulting in plans to attend the weekly luncheon meeting of the Exchange club to hear Dr. Leland H. Creer. professor profes-sor of history.
