Show STATE DEADLINE ON TAXES NEARS With but eight days remaining In which to pay and avoid statutory penalties. Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer had remitted slightly more than half their 1937 tax bill Thursday In Salt Lake county. The deadline for payment of current cur-rent taxes is noon. December 20. After that a penalty of 1 per cent, interest at the raet of S per cent a year and costs incidental to redemption re-demption are imposed by statute. Treasurer J. R. Jarvia told The Telegram that (4.090.043.M has been received as payments onthe 1937 tax chargea made to support cities, towns, schools, county government, state government, in part, and miscellaneous mis-cellaneous minor special taxing units in this county. The unpaid balance of the current tax bill is 3.666.369.18. the treasurer said. Each year some portion of the tax bill remains currently unpaid. Ultimately, however, the bill ia usually usu-ally paid in full, records disclose. Taxing officials estimate that the 1937 bill will approach 91 per cent collection. |
