Show WORK PLANNED IN FOREST AREA Plans for improving facilities of the Wasatch national forest in all fields were reported Thursday by James E. Gurr, supervisor. Completion of the Provo rlver-Hayden rlver-Hayden fork road from Kamas to Mirror laks is planned for next summer, Mr. Gurr reported. 'This will bring ths Uintas within with-in a two-hour drive of Salt Lake City." Twenty mllea of construction will be undertaken by the forest service, eight miles having already been completed to a high atandard. Three miles of road have been completed in Weber canyon, including in-cluding the Smith and Morehouse roads, Mr. Gurr said in reporting work on this project. One and five-tenths five-tenths miles of highway havs been fully completed In Farmlngton canyon, can-yon, whlio three and five-tenths miles have been greatly improved. During the last year 2.521.000 board feet of timber have been taken ta-ken from tha forest, providing employment em-ployment for to persons. Some 7444 cattle and 62.547 sheep have been grased on teh forest area, the report state. "It is estimated 1.047.100 pounds of beef and J. Ml. 710 pounds of lamb have been converted from the forage," for-age," Mr. Gurr said. Recreational factlltiea have been greatly improved. |
