Show Republican Club Pageant To Relive Early America Attendance of 20,000 Expected at Picnic; County Worker s Will Frolic Also - The "Spirit of '76" marches again. Costumed to represent the famous Revolutionary war characters, char-acters, players will march in a pageant at the annual outing of the Republican club of Utah at Saltair Friday night. Outings were in vogue also for the employes of the Salt Lake county roads and bridges department as they closed the county shops and convened at Lagoon for their annual frolic. The Republican club outing, which began early In the afternoon waa expected to attract 20.000 persons per-sons by evening. According to C. Lamont Felt, chairman, 17.000 tick-eta tick-eta had been sold by Friday forenoon. fore-noon. Special guests of the club during the afternoon were children from the Kearns St Ann's orphanage, the Neighborhood House and the Children's Service society home. A committee, headed by James De-vine, De-vine, chairman of the reception committee, visited the children on Thursday and distributed among them shiny new dimee and tickets for ths concessions, free popcorn, toys, loirpops and soda water. Battle In Fire A burst of aerial bombs at 8: IS p. m. will herald a spectacle of fireworks fire-works which will depict the Battle of Bunker HilL A pageant of the "Spirit of T8" will follow immediately. immedi-ately. According to Harry 8. Joseph, publicity chairman, the fife to be used in the pageant was made by the famous minuteman, Paul Revere, Re-vere, who was a coppersmith. After the pageant the fife will be aent to the Smithsonian institute, Mr. Joseph Jo-seph said. A band of 22 pieces will play patriotic pa-triotic music. No political speeches will be allowed, Mr. Felt said, but several telegrams of congratulation from nationally prominent Republicans Repub-licans will be read. Special committee In charge of the children's program includes J. H. Preece, F. Henri Henriod. Mrs. Ivy Baker Priest and Mrs. Waldo Lyman. Free transportation was provided for the children. Workers Frolic In charge of arrangements for the outing waa T. A. Scboenfeld. Feature of the county road workers' work-ers' outing at Lagoon was a Softball gams between the firemen and the truck drivers.
