HOHZIONIST PARTISANS BOLT ZURICH, Switzerland, Aug. 20 Wl The American non-Zionist delegation bolted a session of the political committee of tha Jewish Agency for Palestine today in a dispute over the British plan to partition Palestine into sovereign Jewish and Arabian states. Tha Americana, led by Felix M. Warburg.th.New York banker-philanthropist, banker-philanthropist, withdrew after the committee voted to recommend ratification rati-fication of a Zionist congress resolution resolu-tion that would open tha way for negotiations with Britain on the partition scheme. Th withdrawal was a protest against a ruling by the chairman. Professor M. Speyer of Brussels university, which halted debate on the proposal. Warburg demanded that tha vote be postponed until just before the agency'a council meeting later today ao he might clarify hia group'a opposition to ratification of th congress con-gress resolution. The American group favors nego-tiationa nego-tiationa with Arab leaders not Britain for establishment of a single sin-gle Arabian-Jewish state in Palestine, Pales-tine, Warburg aaid. Tha Zionist general council has not yet authorized negotiation with the British government, but is studying that possibility a ordered recently by the Zionist congress. Two days ago Warburg warned that non-Zionist American Jewa would withdraw cooperation from the Zionists if tha negotiation were authorized. Warburg explained after today'a walkout that the American delegation delega-tion waa supporting a substitute motion introduced by Dr. Judah Magnus, chancellor of tha Hebrew University of Jerusalem, for appointment ap-pointment of a committee of Zionists Zion-ists and non-Zionist to negotiate with Arab leadera toward establishment establish-ment of a binational state in Palestine. |
