Show Mapleton Pioneer Celebrates 89th Birthday Mrs. Eliza Mendenhall, for many years a resident of Maple-ton Maple-ton and who is now making her home with a daughter at Lake Shore, was honored on the occasion occa-sion of her eighty-ninth birthday with a party given by her sons and dauhgters at the home of a son, Harvey Mendenhall, in Provo. Pro-vo. Most of her family were in attendane at the party which featured fea-tured visiting and a well-arranged lunch with a number of out-of-town guests in attendance. Mrs. Mendenhall was born in the old fort row- in Springville, March 23, 1857. She is probably one of the last, if not the only, person living who was born at that site. Mrs. Mendenhall, in her earlier years, took an especially active part in church work, and she also has teen an active civic worker. Her husband, John Mendenhall, died in 1920. She has nine sons and daughters, daugh-ters, Mrs. Marion Tuckett, Lake Shore; Thomas Mendenhall, Raymond, Ray-mond, Alberta, Can.; Will Mendenhall, Men-denhall, Cedar City; Byron .
