W, ON EMPLOYMENT Veterans Found Jobs By Employment Committee; Approximately . 40 Hired The Springville veterans employment employ-ment committee announced this week that they have made great strides in the alleviation of employment em-ployment among local veterans. After four weeks ' of activity among employers, all veterans who have made requests to the employment em-ployment committee have been employed locally and. offers for positions are being received . daily, according to Byron Wardle, VF.W. Publicity chairman. The veterans employment committee com-mittee was inaugurated by the Art City post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in an effort to bring loser contact between local veterans and employers. Employers Employ-ers immediately endorsed the plan and made requests for workers directly to the committee who in turn located a jobless veteran who could meet with the specifications required by the employers. Approximately, Ap-proximately, forty merchandisers, apprentices, laborers, and construction con-struction workers have been employed em-ployed up-to-date. The over-all unemployment situation sit-uation for Utah county is critical at the present time according to statistics revealed by Mr. W. L. Mildenhall of the U. S. Employment Employ-ment Service. At the present time there are 1700 veterans actively seeking work in the county. During the month of March, 783 jobless made new applications ap-plications for employment at the U.S.E.S office in Provo. Of 586 who were referred to employers there were 166 veterans and 98 of high school age seeking part-time part-time work. Of this total 68 received re-ceived employment during the month. Mr. Mildenhall commended the Veterans of Foreign Wars in their efforts to aid in the procurement of employment and offered wholehearted whole-hearted assistance to any veterans' organization interested in similar efforts.
