Show COMMITTEE TURNS LAND BACK FOR CROPPING An acreage total of 392 acres of good farm land was officially returned to Utah County farmers this week by the Utah County Noxious Weed Control committee, according to an announcement made today' from the office of County Agent, B. R. Boswell. The acreages have been under contract with the county on a cultivation cul-tivation program for two years for the control of noxious weeds. Letters were sent this week to 79- cooperators with the suggestion sugges-tion that the land tie planted to grown crops so that owners could watch for the appearance of new plants which might come from seeds which have been dormant during the cultivation period. The1 committee has further suggested that land owners treat the fence lines and ditch banks with chemicals chemi-cals which will be proved by the county at one-haf price. Springville have been returned po cropping this year. During the 10 years since this program has been in operation in this county, a total of 1944 acres of good crop land have been cultivated cul-tivated and returned to cropping. In every case good production of good crops have followed the cultivation cul-tivation program. The plans for the weed program for 1946 are: Have samples of all alfalfa seed which is to be planted this year analyzed by the State Seed .Analyst .Ana-lyst for noxious weeds; Contract with growers to cultivate cul-tivate 900 more acres this year; Grant lax reductions on this land which is under contract in this program; Assist the growers of alfalff seed to produce this seed under supervision; ' Secure weed chemicals and make them available to cooperators coopera-tors for one-half price. Experiment with the growing of early maturing crops ilke barley, peas, or fall wheat each year before be-fore a cutivation is undertaken; Conduct some experiments with At a recent meeting of the county committee, Reed Bird of Springville and H.
