Show o : SOROPTOMIST CLUB ENTERTAINED HERE The Soroptomist club of Provo and Utah county, held their regular regu-lar monthly dinner meeting last Thursday evening in Springville at the Valley Tavern hotel. The ladies brought guests, and more than fifty persons enjoyed a delicious eight o'clock dinner. Mrs. Gladys Nielsen, second vice-president of the organization, presided and introduced the speaker speak-er of the evening, Dr. J. C. Moffit, superintendent of Provo schools. Dr. Moffit spoke on pending bills in the state legislature relating to our schools, and explained how the school system of our state will be affected by their passage. He made an urgent appeal to voters regarding equal taxation, and presented the deplorable situation of the crowded schools in certain localities. His talk was both enlightening en-lightening and enjoyable. An enjoyable feature of the entertainment, was two groups of lovely songs, given by Mrs. Ber-nice Ber-nice Dastrup, and greatly appreciated appre-ciated by her audience. She was accompanied by Mrs. Zenith Johnson. John-son. The next dinner meeting of the club will be held in Provo on Feb. 22, at Keeley's. |
