Show Armed Forces SSgt. Monte E. Gustin Gets Good Conduct Medal ' With the 15th AAF In Italy SSgt. Monte E. Gustin of 482 So. Main, Springville, Utah, was recently re-cently awarded the Good Conduct medal for "exemplary behaviour, efficiency and fidelity." He is an armorer-gunner in a B-24 Liberator Libera-tor bomber group in the 15th Air Force, and has already flown on many bombing missions against enemy installations in central and southern Europe and the Balkans. Sgt. Gustin was graduated from Springville high school in the class of 1943, entered the Army Air Forces on July 23, 1943. He received re-ceived his army technical training at Lowry Field Armament school and Tyndall Field Aerial gunnery school. His wife, Mrs. Faye P. Gustin, resides at 386 No. 8 East, Spanish Fork, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Gustin, reside at the Springville address. Pvt. Reed Jones Changes Camps Pvt. Reed Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Virl Jones of this city has been transferred to Camp Maxey, Texas, from Camp Hulen in the same state. He was recently released re-leased from the hospital following follow-ing an accident- at camp when he suffered major injuries. At the new camp, he has been assigned as assistant to the chaplain. Local Man Arrives ' In U. S. From England been overseas since September, 1944. He is now in the South Pacific. Leon Hatfield Gets Silver Star Leon Hatfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hatfield of this city, has been .awarded the Silver Star while on reconnaisance duty on the western front, according to word received here. E. Lamar Royalnce Gets Promotion E. Lamar "Tabby" Roylance has been made a Pfc, according to word received here. He is now stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C. Ray Peterson Is Cpl. Keith "Bud" Kennedy, son of Mrs. Emma Kennedy of this city, who was injured in France Nov. 14, called his mother from North Carolina Sunday, stating that he had been transferred to this country for treatment. He was confined to a hospital in England Eng-land from the time of his Injury until Jan. 17, he stated. His injuries consisted of a fractured frac-tured left arm which was struck by shrapnel, injuring the nerves. He is to have an operation on the nerves of the arm, and expects soon to be sent to the hospital at Bushnell or to the west coast. John Russell Clark Gets Promotion John Russell Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Clark, has been promoted pro-moted to technical sergeant In the Marines, according to word received re-ceived here. He went into the service in April of 1943 and has Home On Furlough Ray Peterson, who has been stationed at Sheppard Field, Tex., is spending a few days' furlough here with his wife and family and other relatives. When he returns to camp, he expects to be reassigned reas-signed for training as a tail gunner. gun-ner. Joe Plumblee Home On Leave Joe Plumlee, petty officer M.M.-2c, M.M.-2c, who has been stationed with the navy at Pensacola, Fla., Is spending a few days' leave with his mother, Mrs. Georgia Plumlee at Mapleton, and other relatives and friends. Sgt. Floyd Stewart Arrives In France Sgt. Floyd Stewart, son of Mrs. Bertha Stewart of this city, and husband of LaRae Thorpe Stewart, Stew-art, has arrived safely in France, according to word received hero. |
