Show RECORD CROWDS ATTEND STAKE QUARTERLY MEET Theme Of Youth Carried Out In Talks; Bishop Marvin O. Ashton Speaker A record attendance at all sessions ses-sions marked quarterly conference held last Saturday evening and Sunday, under direction of President Presi-dent E. A. Strong, in the Fourth ward chapel. Marvin O. Ashton, ' of the presiding pre-siding bishopric, Salt Lake City, attended all sessions as the only representative of the church general gen-eral authorities. The morning meeting of mothers moth-ers and daughters, held simultaneously simultane-ously with that of priesthood mem-ers, mem-ers, was somewhat of an innovation innova-tion at this conference, and proved a success, with a large crowd attending at-tending and enjoying an especially especial-ly fine program. . Te general conference session Sunday forenoon featured a talk by the visiting authority and short talks by young members on topics relative to the priesthood. Also, the visiting service men were called to the stand to give short talks. "Youth" was carried out as the theme of the conference. The afternoon meeting featured extemporanous talks by several members who gave their testimony testi-mony of faith in the church. The evening meeting was under direction of the district Scout committee com-mittee and the stake Beehive leaders, lead-ers, and included several short talks on various Scout topics with Freeman C. Bird in charge. The introductory talk was given by Commissioner Wilford Manwar-ing Manwar-ing and the program included a number of fine musical selections dircted by Mrs. Lucille Bird, with Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall, accompanist. |
