Show ENUMERATOR TO CALL ON LOCAL FARMERS Questions Being Asked So That 5-Year Farm Census May Be Compiled J. Fleming Wakefield of Provo has been appointed to make a survey of farms in this locality for the purpose of securing a census of agriculture which is taken every five years. Through the census, basic information on farm acreage, acre-age, land values, crops and livestock live-stock and other general items is to be compiled, and the cooperation coopera-tion of local farmers is asked in answering the various questions. Farmers who may feel hesitant about answering some of the census cen-sus questions can be assured that the information they give will be used for no other purpose than the census ' compilations. Only sworn census employees will see the records for individual farms, and these employees will be liable to fine or imprisonment if they tell your neighbor or anyone else about your operations. The record for your farm cannot be used to tax you, to regulate you, or to investigate in-vestigate you. The law forbids it. Farm organizations and the Department De-partment of Agriculture helped the Department of Commerce prepare pre-pare the agricultural census questions. ques-tions. Mr. Wakefield will ask about the owner, own-er, the operator, the acreage of the farm and the value of the land and buildings, and the use of the land-in 1944. There will be questions ques-tions about the acreage, production produc-tion and value of crops, about the number of each type of livestock on the farm on January 1, 1945, and the value of livestock products sold last year. |
