Show the negligence of parents. In as much as the parents whose sons have fire arms have taken no responsibility, are the balance of the citizens going to sit by and allow such a condition go on; are we going to say "it's too bad" and do nothing else; are we going to let our city get a blacker eye than it already has. If we do we are as negligent of and responsible for the lives and safety of not only our own citizenery but that of anyone traveling on our highways, say nothing of the live stock that are killed and property damaged each year by irresponsible bearers of firearms. What won't these parents do to keep their sons out of the Army when war is eminent yet, statistically, stat-istically, those sons are safer in the Army than they are living in our own community. Now certainly certain-ly someone should call a meeting some club should sponsor a movement' or our city and county officials should force the issue until we can feel that we are safe from gunfire in our kitchens, in our yards and on the highway. No one living in that vicinity was safe in his own home at that time. The instance was brought up in several sev-eral public meetings and given wide publicity in the paper, but so little interest was aroused that nothing was done. It was then taken to Kiwanis club and ground laid for organizing a group to take boys out at disignated times and teach them the proper use of fire arms.
