Show s . Paul Thorn Named To Assist With Fieldhouse Drive Paul Thorn has been named by the Brigham Young University to head the drive in the southern part of the state for funds to build the new fieldhouse which is expected to be started soon. Dr. Wesley P. Lloyd, dean of Y students, has been named chairman of the drive. The university, through its friends and alumni, has been asked , to raise approximately half of the estimated $900,000 cost of the new structure, which, when finished, will be the largest indoor athletic plant in the state. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will advance $100,000 so that construction may begin as soon as architectural and construction plans are finished, in the hope that basketball games may be played in the building next season. The university and its friends must match that amount, and from that point on, the church will then match whatever funds the school raises through contributions. contribu-tions. Other members of the central committee are: Harold Glen Clark and Clyde Sandgren, who will work with the alumni of the university; Edwin R. Kimball, director of athletics, ath-letics, Ariel S. Ballif, .athletic council chairman; Elwood Romney, representing Athletics Unlimited and other sports boosters throughout through-out the state; Paul Thorn, who will head the drive in southern Utah; Ralph Benson, student body president; presi-dent; Ray Beckham, publicity; Grant Ingersol, northern Utah county chairman; Charles Session, Provo area chairman; Grant Tag-gert, Tag-gert, representing Wyoming businessmen; bus-inessmen; Charles Redd, southeastern south-eastern Utah chairman, and Briant Stringham, northeastern Utah chairman. |
