Show Former Resident Dies In Provo; Services Monday Mrs. Ida Peterson Horton, 73, former Springville resident, died Saturday evening at a Provo hospital hos-pital following a months illness. She was born March 27, 1877, in Springville, a daughter of John N. and Frances Giles Peterson. She received her early education in the Springville Elementary and Springville Spring-ville High School. She spent her early life in Springville and was married to Giles Frank Horton, Jan. 11, 1904 in Provo. Following their marriage, they lived in Provo. Mr. Horton died Nov. 26, 1941. Since that time Mrs. Horton has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Collins, at 441 West Third North St., Provo. Mrs. Horton was a charter member mem-ber of the Camp Kolob Daughters of the Pioneers, and she has been an active member of the Camp Provo DTJP since moving to Provo. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a Relief Society teacher for more than 25 years. She has been particularly active in quilting work. She is survived by three sons, Glen N. Horton, Provo; Ralph O. Horton, Murray; Floyd G. Horton, Riverside, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Miller, Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. D. E. Gilner and Mrs. Jack Collins, Provo; three brothers, George and Andrew Peterson, Springville, and Leslie Peterson, Dragerton; two sisters, Mrs. Zelma Beardall, Springville, and Mrs. Lela Galbraith, Salt Lake City; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday Mon-day at the Berg Drawing room, Provo. Burial was in the Springville Spring-ville city cemetery. |
