Show Are You a Vater Waster? Springville boasts of one of the finest culinary water systems in the country, yet we hear of people at times during the past week or so who have been unable to get a drink of water. Three factors are responsible for this condition: First the most likely cause is that the people are not aware of the water shortage which exists at this time; second, a selfish attitude is one of the most despicable to deal with in the comas com-as long as he gets all the water he can get and third, irrigation water should have been made available before this time so that people would not be tempted to irrigate their gardens with the hose. There are those people who take the attitude that they pay for the water and are going to get their share. Trouble is, they get their share and the other fellow's also and maybe the other fellow has paid as much and sometimes more for what he can't get. Such an attitude is one of the most despicatable to deal with in the community com-munity but one which it seems, is always with us. We often wonder how it would feel to sit by and see all our possessions going up in smoke because someone was so thoughtless as to drain the water system. That very thing will happen if townspeople towns-people continue wasting water. A lot of water could have been saved the past week both for a possible fire and for regular use in the culinary culin-ary system. There is so much water going to waste down Hobble Creek that there are few excuses for the water department not seeing to it that some of it is put into irrigation systems to take the place of culinary water which is being placed on lawns and gardens. During April, the culinary springs have about the lowest flow of the year. This gradually increases until August when the maximum maxi-mum flow usually comes. When April is a dry month, it is even more essential that we have irrigation water in the month of August for the culinary flow is considerably more in August than in April. Be all these factors as they may it remains that we are dangerously danger-ously low on waters much more than most people realize because of waste. Let's all cooperate in every way possible with the water department. There will be plenty of water if everyone uses it as it as it should be used. INTERESTED CITIZEN |
