Show Y Wins Skyline Title; Plays lnN.C.AA, N.I.T. Brigham Young University's Cougars roared to their second consecutive championship Saturday Satur-day night by defeating the Ute cagers 69-50 in their final conference con-ference battle. The win gave the "Y" the title plus the right to represent this area in the NCAA tourney and an invitation to play in the National Invitational meet in New York City. In their Saturday victory, Mel Hutchins proved his all-American rating by turning in a brilliant performance and ringing up 21 points. Minson was close behind and Romney also played outstanding outstand-ing ball. Utah dumped Wyoming in their game Monday night 52-50 and should the Denver club have turned turn-ed in a victory over Wyoming last night, then the U and Wyoming would end up tied for second place. Otherwise, Utah would end up third; Denver fourth, and Utah State and Colorado A M tied for last place. |
