Show Lake Road Proposal Discussed at ' C. of C. Meeting Under direction of President J. Arvil Bird, a meeting called by the Chamber of Commerce was conducted here last Thursday evening ev-ening to discuss a proposed new road bordering Utah Lake. The highway would furnish a shorter route for workmen in the south end of the county, principally Pay-son, Pay-son, to reach Geneva. Representatives attended the meeting from Provo, Spanish Fork an,d Payson together with members of the city council, Utah County Commissioner J. Clark Elmer and Dale Despain of the Utah county planning board. It was brought out that there are 305 workers from the south end of the county who would possibly pos-sibly use the road enroute to Geneva. Gen-eva. It was estimated the highway high-way would cost in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of four to five hundred thousand dollars. An opinion was expressed at the meeting that it might be possible to get federal aid for the road. However local chamber of commerce members have since expressed themselves to the effect that such a road would be too expensive both to build and keep up, for the number of people it would benefit. |
