The Forker team won the title over Hinckley 62-47. , Photo by Vernon Spanish Fork Second Ward Wins District Five M Men Tourney $Fullmer of Springville Second ward, was presented the annual award of the Provo Kiwanis club for being named the most valuable player to his team. Jimmy was the leading scorer of the meet. Individual In-dividual awards went to 10 men selected as the best of the meet as follows: Dean Stringham, Hinckley, Hinc-kley, Clarence Bishop, Hinckley; George Behunin, Monticello; Ray Warner, Meadow; Marion Farns-worth, Farns-worth, Kirtland; Lane Vance, Man-assa; Man-assa; Gordon Smith, Springville Third; Paul Brockbank and Wood-row Wood-row Ludlow, Spanish Fork Second; Sec-ond; and Roland Hamilton, Spanish Span-ish Fork First. V V 1 Kiwanians. The Chamber of Commerce Com-merce presented individual awards to ten top players by president Arvil Bird. Outstanding Player ... Selected as the outstanding player of the tournament and presented pre-sented with a trophy by Glenn Holley, was Reed Nelson of the Spanish Fork First ward. Jimmy The Spanish Fork Second ward .pulled a mild upset in defeating the fast and rangy Hinckley ward team here Saturday night 62 to 47 to win the District 5 M Men tournament and gain a berth in the All-Church meet starting on March 21 to 24 in the Ute Field-house. Field-house. Hinckley will meet another district runner-up team for a chance to get into the finals, Mon.s March 19. Spanish Fork played flawless ball Saturday to take an xearly 2nd quarter lead after the two teams shot basket for basket in the first quarter. Money, Framp-ton Framp-ton and Ludlow and play-making Brockbank played outstanding ball as they dominated the scoring throughout the game. Spanish Fork First ward, which lost to Hinckley in the semi-finals by one point, easily won over the Springville Third for 3rd place in the meet, 55-33. Manassa placed 4th in the meet by winning over Kirtland, 46-24. Springville Second Sec-ond won the consolation honors over Meadow in the only extra period game of the tourney, 50-45. 50-45. Awards were presented following follow-ing the meet, with Mayor Edward Clyde presenting a beautiful trophy tro-phy to the winners and donated by Springville City. The Lions club, with President Paul Haymond making the presentation, gave a handsome 2nd place trophy to the Hinckley club. Blaine Wheeler presented pre-sented the Springville Second ward with the tourney ball, given by the 20-30 club, for Consolation prize. President Frank Cranmer of the Kiwanis club, presented the Manassa Man-assa team with the sportsmanship trophy which was donated by the |
