Show Musettes Sponsor Musicians In Audition Contest A number of young musicians from this locality will be auditioned audi-tioned for contests to be conducted at the biennial of the Federated Music clubs of America scheduled for May in Salt Lake City. These musicians are being sponsored spon-sored by the Musettes, federated ladies chorus of this city, and will include vocal and instrumental talent, according to Mrs. Bliss Hoover, chorus director. In the student division, Miss Elaine Jones, Springville, and Mrs. Mary Ann Mendenhall, Provo vocalists; and Miss Barbara Bu-tenhof, Bu-tenhof, young pfanist from Spanish Fork, will compete. The junior division will include Virginia Miner, cello; Ann Johnson and Merrill Johnson, violin; Jane Harrison, piano; Betty Ann Hoover, Hoo-ver, voice; Ann Johnson, Betty Ann Hoover, Beulah Rae Webb, and Claudette Hill, string quartet; quar-tet; all of Springville. Barbara Neeley, piano and Annie Joy Pine-gar, Pine-gar, cornet, both from Spanish Fork, will also enter. There are no entries from here in the young artist division. Initial tryouts will be held in Salt Lake March 31 and April 1. All winners will compete with Idaho winners in Pocatello April 14. Finalists will then perform at the biennial. Winners will receive cash prizes and scholarships. |
