Show TRANSPORTS BRING 15,600 MEN HOME . v NEW YORK, July 13. Four transports arrived here today from Brest with l.ri,600 troops, the Cap Finisterre bringing 2076, the cruiser Pueblo l(iS9. the cruiser St. Louis 14S5 and the Imperator 9452. i Criticism of the port authorities at Brest were voiced hy army officers, 1000 j of whom arrived in the Cap Finisterre i steerage. They declared the transport had been overcrowded. The Cap Finisterre, according to her officers, of-ficers, has space for 624 first-class passengers, pas-sengers, but they were required to trans-i trans-i port more than 1800, including 557 women passengers welfare workers and "war brfdes." Lieutenant William S. Cannon of San Francisco died at sea after being operated on for appendicitis. Four of the 167 "war brides' aboard were Russian wives of American soldiers who fought with 339th infantry operating out of Archangel. |
