Show ASSESSMENT WORK MAY BE EXEMPTED Difficulty of interpreting equitably the congressional resolution which on August 16 became a law with the president's signature, sig-nature, and which provided that assessment assess-ment work on all but five mining' claims for any single claimant should be exempted ex-empted for the year 1919, may result in Uie amendment of the law so that assessment as-sessment work on all mining claims may be exempted for the year. Considerable confusion has resulted In attempting to execute the law. Recently Recent-ly the father of the original resolution, Congressman "Ur. C. Hawley of Oregon, according ac-cording to information received by A. G. Mackenzie, secretary of the Utah chapter of the American Mining congress, from Washington, introduced a joint resolution to amend the law so that assessment work on all claims will be exempted for the year 1919. |
