The first step toward reclamation of the famous big Bruneau project and toward development develop-ment of the power and irrigation resources re-sources of the Snake river In Idaho on a scale that will be ono of the greatest in Irrigation history was taken today, when the Twin Falls-Bruneau Land and Water company applied to the state land board to have 554,000 acres of the project segregated segre-gated as the first unit of the scheme. The lands lie within Owyhee and Twin FaUs counties, and the cost of the first unit is estimated at J05,000,o00. John Badley, Carey act engineer in the state reclamation department, has been ap-'pointed ap-'pointed by Commissioner Swendson to begin at once the work of selecting the lands to be Included in the project. The board authorized this action today. He will report his rinding later. A 520,000,000 dam and reservoir at American Falls is one of the largest features of, the plan. This dam will supply enough water for 1,000,000 acres. J. H. Richards, attorney for the company, com-pany, presented the application for a Carey act segregation to the state land board. |
