There were 2Sj620 more women who bought labor-saving devices, because they had learned through demonstration of their value. This number included water canners, steam-pressure cookers, lighting plants and various other articles arti-cles which make for the comfort and health of the home. Tho clubs organized through the efforts ef-forts of the agricultural department and state colleges are schools of instruction instruc-tion in family betterment and community com-munity welfare, clearing houses of ! neighborhood knowledge and public exchanges, ex-changes, where patterns, magazines, recipes and ideas are given and taken. The work in this direction of the department de-partment appears to have taken a firm hold in the South, where, owing to climatic cli-matic and other conditions, housekeeping housekeep-ing and homemaking are .laborious tasks, even for the well-to-do. |
