Show MET UPSET, BUYERJSSERTS Many Dealers Seem Money Mad and Workers Erratic, Er-ratic, Says Needham. Xever before in the history of the United Unit-ed States were labor conditions In such a precarious state, says V A. Needham, manager of the Z. C M. I. dry goods department, de-partment, who has juat returned from an extended eastern purchasing trip. He says it is practically Impossible for manufacturers man-ufacturers to obtain necessary help, as they are having great difficulty in holding hold-ing the help they already have, lie says the future therefore is doubtful. VIth profiteering still poing on, Mr. Needham thinks many dealers have gone money mad. The result, lie says, is that there is no value to goods, excepting the value put upon them. Frequently,' lie says, goods have advanced overnight without justification for the increase. Regarding Regard-ing two incidents brought to his attention, atten-tion, he said: "Two young men employees who had put their savings into raw materials had purchased quantities of undressed furs and I was assured by one who had claimed to know positively that they had made tHs season alone, one 150,000, and the other $2r"0,000. "I -would ad vise the people of our community com-munity to shun the speculative spirit that is at present so rife In the east. Now is the time for the people to be cautious and not go to the extreme, for : sooner or later there Is apt to be a reaction re-action which may prove disastrous to the i unwary." |
