Show BOARD OF EDUCATION TO HONOR. GIAUQUE Following attention to imperative routine rou-tine matters, the regular meeting of the city board of education was terminated last evening by adjournment out of respect re-spect for Arnold G. Giauque, who died yesterday. Oscar W. Moyle, R. H. Bradford and W. J. Barrett e were appointed a committee com-mittee to represent the noard in connection connec-tion with the funeral and to draft resolutions resolu-tions commemorating the life of Mr. Giauque in his service of two decades as a member of the board. Oscar "Van Cott, formerly principal of the Irving Junior high school, was appointed ap-pointed to succeed, as assistant superintendent superin-tendent of schools, George N. Child, recently re-cently appointed state superintendent of public instruction. The appointment carries car-ries a salary of $3000 a year. Squire Coop was appointed, at a salary of $-j(100, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the year's leave of absence accorded Hugh W. Dougall, supervisor of music. A list of census enumerators was submitted sub-mitted by the clerk and approved by the board in preparation for taking the school census, which the law requires must be undertaken and completed between July 15 and 31. |
