Show PIOKEER SILT LAKE BUSINESS MID DIES Arnold G. Giauque, Long Civic Leader Here, III Only Four Days. Arnold G. Glauquc, member of the city board of education, former member of the state land board and more recently appraiser for Z ion's Savings Bank & Trust company, died yesterday morning at a local hospital from uremic poisoning poison-ing after an illness of fou days. Mr. Giauciue was Gli yeans old and had lived In Salt Lake more than half a century, all of that time in the Sixth ward of the Latter-day faints' church, In which he was a bishop. Mr. G Unique had served on the city board of education for twenty years and was chairman of the building committee of the board. Louring his term of office many of Salt Lake's biggest and. most modern school buildings have been erected, notHbly the East high school. Four years ago he resigned from the school board and became a candidate for city commissioner. In this he was unsuccessful un-successful and was re-elected to the school board at the next election. 1 luring his life in Salt Lake Mr, Giaunue was regarded as a leader, both in civic affairs and in the work of the L. D. S. church. His first wife, Miss Caroline Tardoe, died in ?89L Four years later he married Miss Annie Louisa I'oulton. Seven children from the first marriage and five from the second survive. sur-vive. The following are the children: Mrs. Elizabeth Pavey, Caroline Giauque, Arnold Ar-nold G. Giauque, Jr., Clarence P. Giauque, Mrs. Vida Bohlin, Mrs. Blanche Parker, Mrs. Lucille Morgan, James L. Giauque, Rhea Giauque, Thei esa Giauque, Lorin A, Giauque and Marian Giauque. The rioneer stake outing planned for Friday of this week has been postponed for a week in respect to Mr. Giauque, who was a leader In all the interests and work of the stake. This outing will be held July IS. |
