Show drawn-out controversy over the army truck program will have been settled. Earl Smith, sales manager of the Randall-Dodd Auto company of Salt Lake, distributors throughout this section sec-tion for GMC trucks, declares that the government is taking thousands of GMC trucks for severe use in army work at present, and that the success these trucks are having in army service is proving aji important consideration with busiiiess men in civilian life, who are now confronted with the very serious seri-ous problem of economical ami adequate ade-quate transportation, haulage and freighting facilities. The wide range of GM"C models, together to-gether with the fact that these trucks are built by one of the greatest motor car manufacturing organizations the world has ever known, with an almost unlimited engineering staff at its command, com-mand, is proving the importance in GMC sales. The liandall-Dodd officials announce that they have a complete line of GMC trucks on their sales floor at present, ready for immediate delivery. WAR DEPARTMENT WANTS GMC. TRUCKS Will Supplant tlie "AA" Type of Light Power Wagon in the Army. The ''otf again, on again' ' career of the lighter typos of Liberty truck which was heralded when it appeared as an achievement equal to that represented repre-sented by the Liberty airplane engine has received another jolt in the unofficial un-official though apparently authentic announcement an-nouncement that "AA," or lightest type, is asain slated for abandonment. Alter thorough test, it is said, the GMC three-quarter-ton truck has been accepted by the war department as the machine of that size which is to be adopted for all purposes. An official statement to that effect is expected within a few days, thereby setting at rest all existing uncertainty as to the much-criticized " AA " standard de-design. de-design. According to present understanding, the GMC, with certain possible modifications, modi-fications, will entirely supplant the proposed pro-posed " AA " itself becoming the army standard.
