Show PEHTSGES OF BRITipSSES Casualties to Strength in Infantry for Various Parts of Empire. . British Wireless Service. LONDON, Nov., S, Friday. In the period between March 31. 1918, and October 24, 1918, the percentages of casualties to strength among infantry for the United Kingdom, Cauadiau and Australian troops were, respectively : United Kingdom divisions Officers, 118 per cent; other ranks, 121 per cent. Canadian divisions Officers, 97 per cent: other ranks, S4 per cent. Australian divisions Officers, 93 per fri; other ranks. 95 per cent. ''As regards horse and field artillery in -the same period, the United Kingdom King-dom provided 85.88 per cent of the Britisn total strength in these arms and S6.37 per cent of the British total casualties. In the time recorded the average number of days out of the line, per division, was approximately as follows: United Kingdom div isions, eighty-nine days out of Hue; Australian divisions, seventy-nine days, and Canadian division, divi-sion, 102 days. The foregoing computation of casualty casu-alty percentages is based on the numerical numer-ical strength of the unit, to which strength it is kept by replacements of men killed, wounded, missing and otherwise other-wise out of the ranks. |
