Show OUTLOMLD GOOD Mining Engineer and Superintendent Su-perintendent Tells of Development, J. Benton Leggat, mining engineer, who has recently been made superintendent at the Montana-Bingham Consolidated property prop-erty and placed In full charge of the development work there, has submitted to President C. G. Balkmtyne a brief report relative to existing conditions and the outlook for the future. After recounting the principal work done in lat-: years on these vast holdings, Mr. Leggat. says: "The development of the principal popper pop-per ore body (as exposed in the Fortuna workings above) on this south drift, was the main objective In this work inaugurated inaugu-rated last year, and it was estimated that this ore chute would f,o encountered within with-in approximately 1700 feet of the transportation trans-portation Lunnel, and would have equai or larger, dimensions on this horizon, than that exposed tri the Fortuna mine, and also be higher grade of ore due to secondary enrichment, and taking the proven dimensions above as TOO feet 111 length and twenty-two feet average thickness, thick-ness, with "backs" or distance on the vein between this level and the Forfuna mine workings of 1400 feet, I estimate as a probable tonnage of this ore body, over 1,500,000 tons of milling ore 2 per cent or better in copper per ton) and to this, can be added a large tonnage of milling ore as exposed in the Mayflower drift to the north of No. 2 crosscut, as heretofore mentioned. "There are also known ore bodies in the Fortuna vein, as developed in the Fortuna mine workings above, which will be developed in connection with the transportation tunnel. "I am confident (hat with intelligent development, good mining practice and economical business management that a larger tonnage of shipping ore can be mined from both the Mayflower and Fortuna For-tuna veins,-and a substantial profit made oyer and -above tho current expense of mining operations." |
