Show JSs The picture shows one of the 1800-foot Sanderson Cyclone Oil Well Drills :k y recently sold to the Western Allies Oil & Gas Company at Moab, Utah, i & i for development of oil fields in that territory. tim This drill moves under its own traction, the traction transmission being 1 a simple spur gear arrangement without sprocket chains or bevel gears. I h Operated by the same clutch that controls the hoist and sand reel, the It f Hi three speeds, both forward and backward, are controlled by a single ' II convenient lever. it" m Cyclone advantages can be easily seen in this picture. The rope It & spudding operation is never dangerously flexed so that It w the strain is concentrated on the outer strands alone, and has HI w very tle friction on the sheaves. Note the powerful lever- ill m age a e Pnt of rising tne tools and the quick upwardj ill w throw of the sheave at the drop. 111" w W- The clutch on the Cyclone is so situated that it is removed fife I m. m. from the pounding and is only subject to one-sixth of w ke former leverage, where the clutch is placed on the IS m band-wheel. r . There is no one-sided strain on the Cyclone Drill, the fj derrick resting on both sides and the walking beam Wrm m "A" frame resting on both sides. In fact, the w I Jl m. w; construction is such that it is practically a three-H three-H -MP- point suspension drill. Si f v These outfits are handled in Salt Lake and m ; m i through the intermountain territory by 1 1 I LANDES & CO., who keep on hand stocks of I I , drills and drilling tools for all people in- . 1 1 terested in oil well drills and supplies.
