The broken field running of Niggermeyer, quarterback for Drake, featured fea-tured the period. Second period The great work of Niggermeyer Nig-germeyer blocking many forward passes and running back punts saved Drake from being scored on in the second period. The half ended with the ball in Drake's territory terri-tory and the score for the half Q to 0. Third period Neither Drake nor Washington Wash-ington scored in the third period, the ball being held rather consistently in the Washington territory. Fow forward passes were successful and the gains were made for the most part by line plunging. Fourth period Washington opened up the fourth period with a series of fast plays and quickly worked down the field, Griesedeek, left halfback, going through guard for twenty yards and a touchdown. Winkleman missed goal. A few minutes later Fopphoff, Washington Wash-ington fullback, went through the line lor twelve yards for the second touchdown, and Winkleman kicked goal. After a series of forward passes, Griesedeek Griese-deek caught a twenty -eight-yard pass from Simpson, and after a twelve-yard run scored the third touchdown. Winkleman Winkle-man kicked goal. A few seconds before the end of the period Mippert, right tackle, blocked a punt and plunged ten yards for the fourth touchdown. Winkleman missed goal. |
