Show ARREST If SOLVE SlBOMSTEIf Crimes Which Cost Life of Salt Laker Have Local Sequence, The identity of those responsible for the war on ranchers near Lyman, Wyo., last fall, which cost the life of a Salt Lake man and caused a reign of terror of more than a month, may be disclosed through an arrest made here yesterday, ofneers believe. W. E. Hathenbrook, 26 years old, was arrested by Charles E. Wood and Joe Turnbow, deputy sheriffs, on a warrant from livanston, Vyo. Arson Ar-son Is charged. Until the present the burning of hay ! and grain stacks and ranch buildings, the pillaging of unprotected property and the sending of anonymous threatening letters, let-ters, to say nothing of the slaying of C. I. Christenson, shot on his ranch October 3 by his 17-year-old son, LeRoy Christenson, Christen-son, have been unavenged. Hathenbroc has knowledge of thote responsible and they will be forctd to answer for the part they played, Wyoming officers state. Hathenbrook is married and has one child. Mr. Christenson was manager of the Bennion Livestock company and resided at 13 East Second South street. He had a 5i0-acre homestead at Lyman. He had been notified of the receJpt by all ranchers ranch-ers of that district of letters warning them to "clear out on penalty of vour lives and property." He left Salt Lake j to protect his property, i On the night of October 2 huge stacks ; of hay and grain had been burned by the ' pillagers on the Christenson ranch and a battle with guns and revolvers had been fought at Lyman between them and the ranchers. None of the ranchers had been injured. Mr. Christenson had gone on a sentry round near his ranch house the following night, when ne was mistaken for a marauder ma-rauder by his son and shot. He died two days later. Efforts of the ranchers to bring the pillagers to justice have been unremitting, but their identity has been j hard to learn. |
