Show CUBS WiLL FOLLOW M TRAINING PLAN Leslie Mann, Experienced in Military Methods, Will Be Physical Director. By International News Service. CHICAGO, March 5. Manager Fred Mitchell of the Cubs has been so impressed im-pressed with the benefits derived from the army system of making men physically phys-ically fit that he announced today hs would use this system of setting up exercises ex-ercises on the Cub athletes. Leslie Mann, regular outfielder, is to be the physical director. Mann passed several months in the army camps at Houston and make a study of the army method. He is on his way to California to await the arrival of the Cubs. Tte greatest form of exercise, according to Mann, is the setting-up exercise, and everv member of the team must mas-1 ter it. "Give me a team of .physically fit athletes ath-letes and I'll show you bow to win a pennant," said Manager Mitchell. "Your ball club must have every muscle hardened hard-ened and fit. "Naturally, we will have our regular batting, fielding and other practice, bjt the army drill will come first. "When to good condition, they can polish up thtS game." |
