Show DRAFT CALL .COMING. According to the Washington dispatches, dis-patches, a call for the second draft is imminent. If there is any delay in the matter it will bo owing to the failure fail-ure of congress to pass legislation which Provost Marshal General Crowder has declared to bef necessary in order that the interest, of the country may be best served. Probably the call will have to be issued without waiting for action by the senate and house, for the men now in the camps are ready to go over the seas and the training of the next increment of the national army must begin as soon as training cantonments canton-ments can be provided. It seems to be practically settled that the men in class one will be called to the colors in April, and, if so, notice from the provost marshal mar-shal may come at any time. Utah's list of eligibles has been made up and the boys are ready for the summons. In fact, many of them have enlisted since being classified and are now doing duty in various parts of the country. The fact that the call for the second draft is imminent has a double significance, for not only will more Utah youths be sent to the training camps, but those who have been doing strenuous work during the fall and winter wiil be sent to the front. But as both events have been long expected there will be no undue un-due excitement, although a great many Utah citizens are vitally interested. All we can do is to wish the boys Godspeed God-speed and a safe return. |
