BINGHAM, Mareh 8.-Tohn Alfred, 4S years old, who,' the police say, is a member mem-ber of the Industrial Workers of the World and an agitator, was arrested in a Bingham restaurant at noon today by Sergeant Joseph. C. Wilson of the army recruiting offices at Salt Lake, and is being held at the jail here. Sergeant Wilson will confer with W. W. ' Sergeant Wilson, who arrived at Bingham, Bing-ham, Monday, on a recruiting mission, was told that Alfred had made remarks detrimental to the service. He assigned a recruit to listen to Alfred's conversation at the cafe. Alfred said, among other remarks, Sergeant Wilson states, that Americans are cowards and are "dollar traitors." Sergeant Wilson recently arrested ar-rested an enemy alien at Salt Lake for similar statements. A score of recruits resulted from Sergeant Ser-geant Wilson's visit here. He was greatly aided by the Bingham Commercial cluh and individual citizens. |
