Show FAST BOUTS PLEASE CROWD AT SMOKER Supplied with a "Kentucky mershum" crammed full of goodly tobacco and with a quartette of its members to enliven ceremonies and get them all "rah-ed up" between bouts with southern lullabies and patriotic airs, two hundred members of the IntermountaIn club enjoyed four fast no-decision bouts and a battle royal at their smoker last night. Kid Dutch and Young Andreas started things off In lively style in the first bout. Dutch did most of the mussin' up and, though Steve Senhouse, manager of the ciuu. who was uie unira man in ine ring, had nothing to say in the decision line, the swamper gave It to Dutch. Joe Hurley and Eddie White fought four rounds that were one continuous slam-bang. Three rounds were even, so tho swamper said, but one was Eddie's, no foolin". ! Glen Gudke gave Pat Gilbert fifteen ! pounds in their four-round encounter, but that was nothing compared with what Pat dished out to him. Fat Schuler hid his little "ding-dong" or Pat might have swung it also. Benny Chavez's wild rushes at the sound of the gong only made Heinle Schuman smile, and Schuman cut loose with any kind of fighting Benny chose. The swamper had left, but even Steve smiled toward Heinle. Eddie King was among those absent and Kid Davis had to content himself by getting fnto the battle royal. After about ten minutes of a framed fight, with all the boys bent on taking a crack at him, Steve yanked Davis. No one won. There were still three youngsters mixing ! it when Schuler took the bell with htm and went to fill his pipe. |
