Show MUTT AND JEFF. j "Bud" Fisher, the cartoonist who j draws the Mutt and Jeff pictures with which the readers of The Tribune are so familiar, will soon be on the firing line in France, having been made a captain in the British army. "Bud" had military experience in Mexico with Villa and after attending the last I'lattsburg camp, was commissioned a j lieutenant of artillery iu the United I States army and stationed at Fort J Meade, Maryland. Not seeing any pros- I pect of getting into the war as quickly j as he desired, he resigned when prom- ised a commission by the British. Of ( course, he will continue to draw Mutt ! aud Jeff, but under such new conditions I us will make them more interesting E than ever before. Doubtless tho ear- ( toons will be printed in all the camp ji papers and be a source of delight to ! the boys over there, who will bo iu a ! position to more thoroughly appreciate I the work of the artist than the folks at home. We shall await the pictures of Mutt aud Jeff in the trenches with some impatience, for they are sure to be good. I |
