Show HOLY LAND SUBJECT OF ZIONIST'S TALK Considexahle Sum Subscribed by Local Jews for Restoration of Palestine. At a meeting of the Utah lodge B'rith-S'holom, B'rith-S'holom, held Sunday night in musicians' hall, Benjamin M. Halpern of New York City, vice president, of the Zionife Association Associa-tion of Engineers, . delivered an address on "Jerusalem and the Holy Land,"' the result of which was the organization of a local Zionist society. The Zionist association is national In scope and branches are now being instituted insti-tuted in all towns and cities. At the meeting the following provisional provi-sional executive committee was named for the local chapter: Rabbi a. Baskin, chairman; Charles Saltzman, L. Block, S. Weinger, L. B. Mischkind, L. Kanowitz, S. Appleman, J. Tlnnerstein, J. Rosenthal Rosen-thal and M. Pepper. In evidence of the effort the local chapter chap-ter intends making for restoration of Jerusalem Je-rusalem and the Holy laud, now in the possession of a. Christian people for the first time iu many centuries, a considerable consider-able sum was subscribed for a special restoration fund. Students of the Hebrew daily and Sunday Sun-day school, Montefiore, were the guests of the ladies' auxiliary of the Montefiore Monte-fiore congregation yesterday. Each student stu-dent was presented with a large bag containing several varieties of Utah and other fruits. |
