Show OFFER OF $18 FOR SHALE LAND REFUSED Negotiable Value of Oil Acreages Throughout State Is Being Fixed Approximately. Judging from the way oil and oil shale matters are taking hold in Utah lately, it is expected that great progress in this comparatively new industry will be witnessed wit-nessed in the state in the next two years, if not in the coming summer and fall. It is expected that several distilling plants of commercial size will be erected. These are in addition to a number of experimental ex-perimental stills now in course of construction con-struction and contemplated for the immediate imme-diate future. At present Salt Lake City, Soldier Summit and Manti are named as places were shales will be treated. Some of the men who have taken up large acreages of shale lands in ihe various vari-ous fields are at a loss as to the price they should receive In case of sale. As a preliminary, it Is stated that an offer of SIS an acre has been turned down on a thousand-acre tract of shale lands near Watson. Another offer of $15 an acre is said to have been made lately for a thousand acres of a 4000-acre Utah tract. These instances sort of give a line on the possible negotiable value of Ihe shale lands in the state. That each acre of just fair shale lands contains vastly in excess of this in values 4ls shown bv many recent calculations from men of authority in this line. Prico Sun. |
