Show OIL STOCKS MIKE FilJpiCE Ralph Guthrie Elected Secretary Sec-retary of Exchange by-Board by-Board of Governors. OU stocks made their debut yesterday on the Salt Lake Stock & Mining exchange ex-change without any undue excitement or ceremony. But two sales totalling 1500 shares were recorded. With a view to Belting some quotations on the board and with the possibility of stimulating interest, inter-est, the first call was conducted during dur-ing the intermission between the calls of mining stocks in the forenoon. The first sale was made then when W. M. Havener sold himself a thousand shares of Big Bear. When the time for the regular call on oil stocks arrived at 1:30 o'clock only Caller Stenacker, Secretary Shorten and half a dozen brokers and about the same number of spectators were on hand. More interest and activity Is expected within another day or two when the local traders have had an opportunity to acquaint ac-quaint themselves with the values of the various securities offered. Practically all the oil stocks listed were of Wyoming Wyo-ming properties, the Utah Oil & Refining Re-fining company being an exception. During the noon hour the new board ot governors met and elected Ralph Guthrie, one of the callers on the ex-change in the earlv days, to the position of secretary. Mr. "Shorten's resignation will become effective ef-fective February 1. As an appreciation of the faithful services of Mr. Shorten the beard voted him a bonus of a month's salary. W. II. Stenacker was re-elected caller. There was little activity in so far as mining stocks were concerned, so the oil men were not downcast over the lukewarm reception accorded oil stocks on their initial ini-tial appearance. Carrying out the Monday Mon-day vacation idea advanced by Fuel Administrator Ad-ministrator Garfield, all ea3tern exchanges ex-changes were closed yesterday and. being without any criterion ns to the sentiment of the investment public of the east, the local traders took few chances. They pulled Columbus-Rexall down to 92 cents and Prince Consolidated to 63 cents. Tin-tic Tin-tic Standard held firm at S1.35, but only 200 shares were traded. Quotations and sales follow: I Bid.
