Show PATRIOTS WILL BUY. This is the day when almost every man, woman and child in the United States has an opportunity to- hurl a bomb at the kaiser. President Wilson is to open the Liberty loan campaign in New York, and the day will be observed ob-served in every city, town and hamlet in the United States. Great enthusiasm enthusi-asm is manifested everywhere, and in some localities the quotas have already been oversubscribed. The amounts asked are large to the small-souled individuals, indi-viduals, but not to patriotic American citizens who have the welfare of their country at heart and are prepared to invest every dollar they can possibly spare to aid in the winning of the war. A man who can afford to buy a $100 bond and purchases a smaller one does not measure up to the standard, and the gulf between him and a real patriot can be measured by the difference in size between the bond he buys and the one he can afford to buy. This does not apply to the little fish alone, but to those who swim in the largo financial pools as well. But, judging from the enthusiasm manifested in all circles in Salt Lake, the Liberty bond slackers will not be very numerous. There will be some, of course, but they will .be marked men. Let us pass them up. Utah and Salt Lake will come to the front with their quotas just as they did upon three other memorable occasions, occa-sions, and our boys "over there" will be backed up by the "folks at home." Of this there can be no doubt. So let us rejoice and be glad that we live in a patriotic community while we show our faith in our own government obligations obli-gations by buying all the bonds we can get. Up with the flag and down with the traitors. |
