8-HOUR DAY FOR WESTERN UNION NEW YORK, M.-ircVi 27. An eight -: hour work da y will be put Into effect bv the Western Union Telegraph company, com-pany, beginning May 1. in its principal offices, it was announced here tonight. A statement issued by the company said all truffle and commercial department employees at functional main and functional branch offices, operators and other employees at non-functional offices, wherever it can be arranged, and plant department pang employees and others whose work admits of definite hours of duty will be paid on the eight-hour basis.
