Show LEGISLATIVE TICKET TO BE Hill Republicans Will Make Se-lections Se-lections for the Upper and Lower Houses. ASPIRANTS ARE MANY Judge M. M. Warner Will Preside as the Tempo-rary Tempo-rary Chairman. 1 Judge M. M. "Warner has been selected se-lected by the Republican county committee com-mittee as temporary chairman of the Salt Lake county Republican legislative legisla-tive convention, which will be held today to-day at the Salt Lake theater. Julian M. Thomas has been choson as temporary tempo-rary secretary. The convention will open at 11 o'clock this morning for the purpose of selecting ten nominees for the lower f house and three for tho senate oa tho Republican ticket. To facilitate the business of the convention Countv Chairman Ben L. Rich has called a caucus cau-cus of the delegates to the convention for 10:30 o'clock this morning at the theater to select the members of the three convention committees. - Ono member for each of the convention conven-tion committees platform, credentials and permanent organization and order of business will be selected by each of the five municipal wards and "two of each committee will be chosen by the county districts outside the city. The county districts will caucus on the stage, and the municipal wards on the floor of the theater. Committee to Meet. Chairman Rich has issued a call for a meeting of the Salt Lake county Republican Re-publican committee to bo held at 2 d 'clock tomorrow afternoon at Republican Republi-can state headquarters in the Hotel L'tah, for the purpose of reorganization reorganiza-tion and for the election of a county chairman to serve for the ensuing two years. The candidates on the state ticket who are residents of Salt Lake county, and -the candidates on the county, legislative legis-lative and city tickets of Salt Lake county and city are invited to meet with the county committee to assist in the reorganization of tho committee and in the selection of a chairman. Several prominent members of tho party have been suggested as county chairman for the ensuing two years, inasmuch as Chairman Ben L. Rich has declined to consider the yiosition on ae- , count of personal business demanding so much or his time. The name of J. E. ' Darmer has been mentioned for Several weeks in connection with the position, and within the past ten days W. A. i Leatham appears to have gained a considerable con-siderable following. Among others who j t have been rumored as likely candidates for the position 'are Dana T. Smith and George Wilson, present secretary of the committee. List of Candidates. Yesterday saw several cha,nges in the list of candidates for the legislative ticket. J. L. Franken withdrew from the race for the state senate on account of ill health. Mrs. Lily C. Wolstenholme 'also withdrew ; as a candidate for the senate in , favor of Mrs. Annie Wells Cannon, who received the indorsement of the Women's State Republican committee. 1 Mrs. Wolstenholme was, in turn, in- i dorsed by the women for the lower house. The list of candidates for the upper house nomination includes Joseph Kimball, Harrv S. Joseph, Everanl Bierer, E. B. Critchlow, Elias S. Woodruff, Wood-ruff, Frank J. Hewlett, Preston P. Richards. Mrs. Annie Wells Cannon and D. O. Rideout. The changes in the list of candidate? for the lower house consisted largely of additions. Mrs. Wolstenholme 's name was transferred from the list of senatorial sena-torial candidates to the" lower house list, and she and Mrs. E. Hawxhurst received re-ceived the indorsement of the Women's State Republican committee. Mrs. Hawxhurst's candidacy was not announced an-nounced until yesterday'. She has been a prominent member and worker for the party for many years, and formerly was president of the Wasatch Literary club. Others Announced. Other candidates announced Tester- i day where Bishop David A. Smith, Mrs. Kate McCarthy and A. E. Jarman. All three have been prominently identified identi-fied with the party for years. Mr. Jarman has received the indorsement of the Republican labor element. He is one of the foremost labor leaders in the city, and has been for more than thirty years. Mr. Jarman has been a resident of tho city for thirty-nine years, and has been connected witht the Denver & Ri Grande shops the greater part of the time since 1SS2. Ho is a past president of the machinists' union, and has represented rep-resented the International Association of Machinists at many conventions, and served as vice president of the l'tah Federation of Labor for two ternie. Mr. Jarman has been active in politic?, and was Socialist candidate for mayor nine years ago. The list of candidates for nomination to the lower house includes the names of X. G. Morgan, Walter E. Ware, Alex E. Carr, H. B. Windsor. Y". O. Burton, W. A. Howard. Scott W. Anderson, r. X. A. Eble. F. S. lloacland, W. H. Lovosv. E. B. Phippen, E. M. Ruther- ! ford, Mrs. Lilv C.
