Show UTAH IMPROVING BLTIUIDII15 Steady Decrease Displayed in Death Rate Figures for Past Three Years. Special to The Tribune. WASHINGTON, Sept. 18. The census bureau made public today some interesting interest-ing mortality statistics showing the death rate in Titan and other states, and mortality mor-tality figures for various cities. The table also presents an estimate of the population of the states and cities as of July 1, 1915. Utah, with a population of 424,300 (estimated), (esti-mated), had 4193 deaths In 1915, a death rate of 9.9 per 1000 population, as against 10.1 in 1914 and 11 in 1113. Judging from the census bureau's statistics, sta-tistics, the healthiest state in the world . in which to live is Washington. With an estimated population of 1,471,043, there were onlv 11,895 deaths in that state in 1A15. The death rate for that year was 8.1, as" against 8.1 in 1914 and 8.5 in 1913. With an estimated population popula-tion of 142,990, Spokane had 1165 deaths, making the death rate for 1915 to be 8.1, as against 8.6 In 1914. 8.9 in 1915 and 12.8 average from 1906 to 1910. Seattle, with an estimated population of 330,834, had 2464 deaths In 1915, making the death rate for 1915 7.4, as against 8.1 in 1914 and 8.4 in 1913, and an average of 9.3 from 1906 to 1910. Colorado, with 935,799 estimated population popu-lation in 1915, had 10,002 deaths that year, a death rate of 11.3, as against 11.2 in 1914, 11.5 in 1913 and an average of 14.3 from 1906 to 1910. Denver, with an estimated population of 23,161, had 3355 deaths In 1915, making the death rate for that vear 33.3, as against 13.2 in 1914, 13.7 in 1913. 17.5 average from 1906 to 1910, and 17.2 average from 1901 to 1905. Montana, with an estimated population of 446,054, had 5072 deaths in 1915, a death rate of 11.4 per thousand, as against 11.2 per thousand in 1914 and 12 per thousand in 1913. Fourteen cities with 100.000 population or over show for 1915 decreases of 20 per cent or more in deaths, as compared with the five-year period, 1901-1905. Denver, Den-ver, with a decrease of 22.7 per cent, is one of these, and New York City, with a decrease of 26.8 per cent, is another. |
